Corrupt Idol Banned

I just re-read Corrupt Idol. I haven’t cracked this book open in years, but I’m on a little break and thought I would skim through the book to ready it for audio. So, I made corrections and tweaks and republished the book and received the email you dread as a self-published author.

During our review, we found the book details for the following book(s) are in violation of our Content Guidelines:

Corrupt Idol by Dinah Harper

As a result, we won’t be offering your book(s) for sale on Amazon.
— Amazon Email

My heart sank. I immediately logged onto my account and discovered they had banned the paperback, not the ebook (for now). I was grateful they hadn’t taken down the ebook only for me to receive this email the following day:

So… the only retailers Corrupt Idol has left are:

Amazon, KoboGoogle PlayScribd, 24 Symbols, Eden Books… & you can buy the ebook directly from me!

I’m planning to rebrand the series, so in future the paperback will be available through Ingram Spark rather than Amazon. I’ll announce when that’s available.

Unfortunately, this is becoming very common. My book, Bitter Confessions by Mia Knight was just banned from Amazon India and I was told the paperback isn’t available in France. I’m sure there are other sales channels I’m unaware of that have blocked distribution of my work under both of my pen names.

Prequel?

What is ironic about this is, within reading the first two chapters of Corrupt Idol, my mind started toying with the idea of releasing a short prequel and then this happened. I am in contract for my Singed Series, but I thought I could bang out something fairly quickly since Jesse and Violet’s history is already detailed in Corrupt Idol. I would just be showing key scenes and the evolution of their relationship.

I never thought I would write a prequel because I knew many of the scenes would be extremely unsettling/disturbing. Also, their relationship starts changing when she’s 16 and he’s 17. I was worried about the backlash and being banned, but if both of those things are already happening I guess I can just write the story how I want and hope the readers who these books are for will support it and spread the word even if I’m not available on most retailers.

Thank you to those who have spread the word about this book since it was published in 2019 and who will support the prequel, sequel, and Dinah’s future works. I did some cleaning up of Corrupt Idol so make sure you update your copy through Amazon or whatever retailer you purchased it from. You can usually delete the ebook and then re-download it. Also, I added to the bonus scene of Jesse’s POV. You can read that here.
